Everest for Sahel 2013
About This Campaign
“During the summer of 2012, I was in Niger, working for the WFP on the food crisis in the Sahel region of Africa. It was here that it came to me that I can help. I dedicated my climbs to a campaign called “Everest for Sahel”. I wanted to raise awareness of the situation in the Sahel and rally as much support for the people of the region as possible!
My Everest expedition was 97% self-funded. Thanks to those who kindly offered support, not just in money, but by helping promote the campaign.
The campaign has been now closed after my successful climb, summit and return from Mt Everest. It was the hardest but most amazing thing I’ve ever done in my life! As I climbed, I thought of these hungry people in the Sahel… They gave me strength and motivation not to give up during these weak moments when I was about ready to give up… I knew I am not just doing for myself but also for them, giving them hope… as I continued to climb higher and higher until I was standing on the roof of the world!
I would have never done it successfully without all of your support and encouragements!
A HUGE THANK YOU to those who contributed to the Everest for Sahel campaign. We raised 3,068 USD to support WFP Sahel programs. For more information click here: “Everest for Sahel” campaign page.
